A bird lover living in a South Charlotte condominium was looking to add wildflowers to the full sun garden bed in front of his patio. Goals included adding color and supporting pollinators / birds while keeping it neat and tidy to avoid creating any issues with his HOA. We used a limited number of deer resistant low growing perennials intermixed with annual petunias for immediate color. Despite the hot / dry summer, his garden is doing well. Stokes Aster, coneflowers and coreopsis are all blooming. He has had a few deer nibbles on his stokes aster, but not enough to prevent blooming. We are looking forward to seeing the asters bloom in the fall.
